Review the generative AI, process mining and automation capabilities your CloudSuite subscription includes before building anything custom. Step four: keep people in control. Have staff review AI suggestions, and decide which actions can run automatically. Step five: measure, then expand. Track time saved and accuracy for a few weeks, then roll out to the next process. Infor has been adding AI to CloudSuite, including generative AI assistants, process mining and automation, and has announced AI agents for industry workflows. The question for most organizations is not whether AI is available, but where to start and how to do it safely.
These five steps are how our ERP team approaches a first AI use case in CloudSuite. Watch the one-minute video for the overview.
Step 1: Start with a business problem
- Pick one process where delays cost your team time every week, such as invoice processing, order exceptions or approval backlogs.
- Define the outcome in business terms: fewer touches, faster cycle time, fewer errors.
- Avoid starting with the technology and looking for a place to use it.
Step 2: Check your data and security
- Make sure the data is accurate and current for the process you chose.
- Confirm roles and permissions so AI only sees what each user is allowed to see.
- Agree on what data stays out of any AI tool, in line with your AI policy.
Step 3: Use what Infor already offers
- Review the AI, process mining and automation capabilities included in your CloudSuite subscription. Availability varies by product, industry and licensing.
- Prefer built-in capabilities before building something custom.
- Check your release schedule so new features are tested before they reach users.
Step 4: Keep people in control
- Have staff review AI suggestions before they become transactions.
- Decide which actions may run automatically, and which always need approval.
- Keep an audit trail of what AI suggested and what was approved.
Step 5: Measure, then expand
- Track time saved, accuracy and user feedback for a few weeks.
- Compare against the baseline you set in Step 1.
- Roll out to the next process once the first one works.
Frequently asked questions
Does this apply to Infor Lawson too?
The same steps apply. Lawson customers often start with AI around the ERP, such as reporting and document processing, while they plan a move to CloudSuite.
How long does a first use case take?
It depends on the process and data. Keeping the first use case narrow is the fastest way to a result you can measure.
